Tikdam starring Amit Sial feels like a breath of fresh air. Through this movie, you can see and feel the relationship a parent shares with his kids. Amit’s character Prakash works in a hotel and due to the recent change in climatic conditions, their hill station isn't able to gather many tourists. This leads to the shutting down of the hotel and Prakash is offered a new job in Mumbai. Things here seem to be good but what about the kids that he'll have to leave behind?

Money has always been a problem in this household so when the hotel shutdown was announced, Prakash made up his mind to move to Mumbai. He didn't think about the effect it would have on his children. Cheeni, his daughter was the first to think about it whereas his son Samay was busy dreaming about the LED shoes he always wanted. After realizing how their lives would be impacted, Samay and Cheeni went to Bhanu (their classmate) for help. He was always ready with a plan and for that to be formulated, he carried a notebook with him. There are many funny dialogues in the movie and what catches your attention is the never giving up attitude the children have. Cheeni and Samay together with their classmates take various measures to stop their dad and to also bring other dads back to town. Such team effort at such a young age is commendable.

There's a scene in the beginning where Prakash is seen wearing old shoes which are beyond repair yet he wants to buy his son good shoes and for his daughter some toys. This scene capturing the dedication a father has towards his children is shown beautifully and will touch the heart of the audience. I think that everyone should sit with kids around them and enjoy this film with a tub full of popcorn. The movie gives such positive vibes and I'm positive that all of you will like its soundtrack. The lyrics are so apt and the way they describe the ongoing situation is fabulous. The depiction by writers, actors, and directors about the innocence of kids is so pure. Tikdam gives a strong message at the end about how so many migrate from rural areas to urban areas in search of better opportunities. These days the audience looks for content and it doesn't matter even if an unknown actor is playing the part, the plot should be good. Tikdam is a wholesome film and there are two to three scenes that don't make sense but you can turn a blind eye to that as it's a kid's world and we don't need logic but love here.

The child actors are the backbone here and you'll be amazed to see how easily they've done their parts. Kids playing Cheeni, Bhanu, and Samay have a bright future ahead. They prove that talent has no age. In the movie, it's Cheeni who'll take your attention every time with her screen presence. Though she can't speak, it's her facial expressions and the worry about her father's well-being that make her stand out from the rest. The film deserves special attention from the audience and I'm sure that the kids will like this title.

Final Score – [7.5/10]
