‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Season 3 Officially Begins Filming

Strange New Worlds season 3 began prep in June 2022, but it was officially confirmed in March 2023, ahead of a projected filming start in May 2023, which was delayed due to the WGA strike.

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Season 3 has officially begun filming this Monday (December 11) in Toronto, Canada. Executive producer/writer Davy Perez confirmed the start of the production via an Instagram post with the caption, "Strange New Worlds Season 3 Day 1 of shooting. Time to get back in the chair."


‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Season 3 which is currently filming in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, will take five months to officially wrap up production on May 21, 2024. The filming will also take a break starting December 23 due to Christmas and New Year holidays, and will officially return at the beginning of the new year on January 2, 2024.


The 10-episode Season 3 is likely to arrive sometime in late 2024 or 2025, and considering that filming has just started, it may be a while before we start getting official updates from Paramount regarding the third season.


The second season of Strange New Worlds premiered on June 15, 2023, on Paramount+, and finished its 10-episode run on August 10, 2023. ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Season 2 follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the USS Enterprise in the 23rd century as they explore new worlds and carry out missions throughout the galaxy during the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series. The second season was officially confirmed in January 2022 and filmed between February and July 2022.


Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn respectively return as Pike, Spock, and Number One, along with Jess Bush as Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La'an Noonien-Singh, Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, and Babs Olusanmokun as Joseph M'Benga. The second season also saw Carol Kane as Pelia, Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk, Dan Jeannotte as George Samuel Kirk, Tawny Newsome as Beckett Mariner, and Jack Quaid as Brad Boimler.


‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout, Weed Road Pictures, Take 5 Productions, and Roddenberry Entertainment, with Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serving as showrunners. Christopher Fisher and Jonathan Frakes will return to direct a few episodes of Season 3.
