Two major blockbuster films have leaked online just weeks after their theatrical releases. Masters of the Universe has only been in theaters for two weeks, yet many cinemas are still running multiple screenings per day. In contrast, The Mandalorian and Grogu, which have been out for about a month is now only playing in a limited number of theaters. Both films are now available in Full HD 1080p (and lower resolutions) across numerous illegal download and streaming sites, including torrents.
Both ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’ and ‘Masters of the Universe’ were leaked via a russian source. The audio is clean with Original English language, while the video quality is decent enough to watch on a 43-inch 4K TV screen. The only thing currently missing is that there are no English subtitles available. The audio of the films has been rated 8/10, while the video is 9/10.
This isn’t the first time films have leaked in high quality just days after their theatrical release — and it certainly won’t be the last. In April, both The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Project Hail Mary were also leaked in high resolution. However, the leaks had no negative impact on their box office performance. In fact, their earnings continued to grow, with The Super Mario Bros. Movie ultimately crossing the billion-dollar mark.
Both films have significantly underperformed at the box office. Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, which was released on May 22, 2026, has grossed $329 million worldwide against a $165 million budget. Of that total, it earned $172 million in the United States and Canada and $157 million from international markets. The film dropped to third place in its second weekend with $25 million, behind the new releases Backrooms and Obsession. In its third weekend, it suffered another steep decline, dropping 60% to just $10 million and falling out of the top five. Meanwhile, Masters of the Universe has been a major flop. It has only grossed $102 million worldwide on a $200 million budget, including $57 million from the United States and Canada and $45 million from other territories.
Previously, the sources behind the leaks of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Project Hail Mary remained unknown. This time, however, one of the pirate groups has revealed that the leaks originated from a Russian source and were later synced with cleaned-up English audio. I wouldn’t be surprised if Masters of the Universe was intentionally leaked by someone connected to its distribution. Sometimes leaks can help boost visibility for a struggling film, and Masters of the Universe is currently performing very poorly at the box office. With several major new releases arriving in the coming weeks, theaters are unlikely to keep it on screens if attendance continues to be low. That said, I don’t expect the leak to provide any real benefit to The Mandalorian and Grogu. As part of the well-established Star Wars franchise, the film already has strong built-in awareness and doesn’t need leaks to generate interest.

The Mandalorian and Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau (who co-wrote the screenplay with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor), stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin / The Mandalorian. The film follows Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu as they are enlisted by the New Republic to rescue Rotta the Hutt in exchange for information on a target.
