Lionsgate has finally released the first trailer for its upcoming sci-fi movie, “Chaos Walking,” which stars Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley in leading roles. It also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Kurt Sutter, and David Oyelowo.

The film is currently scheduled for theatrical release on January 22, 2021, but the trailer shows the film release as coming soon, so it is pretty much clear that it might be getting a new release date.

Directed by Doug Liman, the film is based on Patrick Ness’ book “Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go,” published in 2008, the first iteration of a trilogy set in a dystopian world where every living creature can hear each other’s thoughts. In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by “the Noise” – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.

Allison Shearmur and Doug Davison produced. The screenplay was written by Christopher Ford and Patrick Ness. “Chaos Walking” was originally set to release on March 1, 2019, but reshoots forced Lionsgate to push back the opening.
