‘Accused’ (2026) Netflix Movie Review - A Fierce Return with Fresh Sparks

Watching Konkona Sen Sharma has always been pleasant, and this time, joining her is Pratibha Ranta. Sen Sharma plays the role of Dr. Geetika Sen, a highly accomplished surgeon who is on her way to get a big promotion in a London hospital. But her amazing and successful professional life is suddenly hit when an anonymous bunch of emails alleging sexual harassment by her lands in the inbox of HR. This, without a doubt, leaves a lasting impact on her marriage as well. The question is, did she really do those things? Are the emails true? Will she be able to prove her innocence ever?

There are many things that I liked in the movie. For example, this time we saw a lesbian couple, which is quite unusual in Indian cinema. And it looked perfectly normal, which shows that our cinema is trying to become more and more open. Secondly, we hear sexual harassment complaints against men. This plot challenges that by telling us that even women can face such allegations, like Dr. Sen. The fact that everyone is under suspicion is what makes the whole journey truly intriguing. Right from an ex-partner to jealous colleagues, no one can be trusted. Someone known to her is behind all this drama. But who could that be?

That makes the plot very interesting and unique. So for sure, there is a breath of fresh air. The entire process of finding the truth behind the whole doings is also well written and even well executed. That is crucial because the entire plot is based on that. In these areas, we can see that the makers have done a great job. Yes, I agree that just because they changed the genders, the plot isn’t very new, but as mentioned before, it is the execution that matters the most for us.

The entire plot is well-paced. So that gives us a lot of time to understand what exactly is happening. The suspense is well maintained, and these are the elements that make the entire thing worth watching.

It goes without saying that even the acting is on par. Both our leads are show stoppers. It is also their acting that gives a lot of life to the whole storyline.  Honestly, at one point, I was admiring our leading ladies, Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta, for the amazing performance they surprised us with. The characters they play are unapologetic about their strength and are immensely strong women. But Geetika’s character is what captures the eye. Caught in the centre of a storm, she manages to maintain her calm while also finding ways to investigate the matter before it blows out of proportion. The entire character development is pretty well written, and that is the beauty of the show. So all in all, this is a must-watch for your weekend, and I am sure you all will like this investigative drama as I did.
