Okay, I know some of you will read the title of this review and think “how rude”. Well, I have my reasons. For starters, I had some expectations that weren’t really met in this documentary. Coming to what it is based on: as the title suggests, the big Kapoor family comes together at the dining table and takes us through their family. They talk about Raj Kapoor, his legacy, and yes, the big family tree is explained to us, too. Everyone is introduced by their relationship with Raj Kapoor. For example, the makers introduced Saif Ali Khan as his “grandson-in-law”.  The Kapoors also answer some fun questions based on them.  There is not much to say about the documentary because this is what the plot is- them reminiscing about their family and their patriarch.

Now, coming to what could have worked: when I read the title, I thought they would take us through some of their famous family recipes. While they did take us, it was a short glimpse. I mean, you are talking about dining, so you might as well take us through some really old generation passed recipe in detail. But no, they didn’t take us. The rest of the time, it is just them coming and talking about their family. One doesn’t mind that; however, it wasn’t presented to us in a very intriguing manner. For starters, I felt that I just witnessed a family dinner I wasn’t really invited to.

After ten minutes, things start to become boring. Yes, I got it, this is a “loud big Punjabi family”. Yes, I got it, everyone shares a great bond with each other. Yes, I got it, you guys frequently meet for lunch. But what is so special about it? Why should I witness this when it isn’t half as interesting as it could have been? At one point, it feels very chaotic to witness them all in the kitchen.

The famous “Christmas Lunch” of the Kapoors is there, which we all have seen in the media. But sadly, there is no coverage given to them. I wish they had discussed the food on the table as much as they discussed themselves. So what did we get here? Not much. Infact nothing. Your memory space is occupied with some piece of information about a particular family, which you probably didn’t need for real. I also feel that the title is misleading. When the show is so focused on Raj Kapoor, probably the title should have been something like that. It looks like midway through, the makers realized that the show was about dining with them and not about Raj Kapoor. Yes, he is an integral part of the family, but the title and the “script” don’t really match with that. This is your weekend, and dear viewers, if you are a big fan of Kareena Kapoor Khan or Ranbir Kapoor, please watch. For the rest of this, this is a waste of time. It is hella boring and leaves with nothing.

Final Score- [3/10]
