How to Ruin Love is a story of heartbreak and twists which sometimes weren't required at all. This series is a spinoff to How to Ruin Love and takes the audience on a rollercoaster ride thus discussing all the issues surrounding modern relationships like commitment and permission from the parents.

Zoleka and Kagiso have been in a relationship for three years. Everything seemed perfect in their life until the talks of marriage entered their perfect little and cute world. The opening scenes of the film are hilarious as in that we see Zoleka attacking a girl for whom Kagiso was on his knees. This image of betrayal sent Zoleka into a spiral, and she lashed out at everyone.

The female lead of the show is an actress and she missed out on being a part of the second season of the telenovela she's working in. Recently her life has been mysterious and there have been hints about Kasigo cheating on her. Even his sister doesn't speak nicely to her, so many things added up, and Zoleka found herself walking when her boyfriend was proposing to her best friend.

This was the most disturbing thing one can see, the boyfriend with best friend. Talk about the relationship going downhill, but what about when it also takes your friendship with itself? Zoleka overreacted and lost both worlds due to a misunderstanding which’ll be cleared once you watch the show.

There are only four episodes in the series that revolve around this situation. After the proposal gets ruined, Zoleka’s harsh words affect Kagiso’s family, and he also loses his app deal. There's a lot of drama going around in the show with even Papi and Khutso (Kasigo’s parents) splitting up.

We get to see how even parents can influence a marriage in which only those who have been married have to survive. The parents of both the man and woman failed to tackle their situation in a mature manner and this made the audience suffer. It was like a vicious cycle of heartbreak and twists which gradually bores you.

You can enjoy this short and intense drama up to the second episode only as after this it's a complete mess. The writer may have been pressured into extending the plot to a series that was suitable for a film. What we see in the latter episodes is exaggeration and repetition. All those tears and the couple coming back and then breaking up feel like a headache. My suggestion would be to head for the last fifteen minutes of the fourth episode after being done with the first two.

Final Score – [5/10]
