Knight Flower is a Korean drama based on the life of a widow played by Lee Hanee and the way she plays this role will make you fall in love with her. Though I haven't watched her past works, this one made me believe that she's a great artist. Jo Yeo-hwa’s husband died on the same day they were about to get married. She's also referred to as a ‘virgin bride’ and this thing was frowned upon. To set an example, her mother-in-law forced traditions upon her however, Jo Yeo-hwa never took it in a bad way and was honest in her efforts (mostly). Her friendship with her maid was exemplary and she's the one who participated in punishments with her. There are so many great scenes between the two and the comedy timings were always on time. This is a great thing about the series it never lets you get bored.

Jo Yeon-hwa never saw the face of his husband and has been a widow for fifteen years. Her dressing up in black and night and pulling those killer moves is bang on. She is the one who never tolerates if something is being done wrong and always stands up. Jo Yeon-hwa is like the Robinhood of her neighborhood, one whose face never came into the public eye but her deeds did. The series brings up how widows are treated. There's romance too but it's not like a romance drama. I yearned to watch the romance but it feels like the writers didn't want to focus on that aspect much. It did come as a disappointment but this part is overshadowed by her action and comedy scenes. Looking at the female lead still enjoying her life and making people come out of their miseries was sufficient to make this series work. For those who like historical dramas with action, comedy, and romance, this one fits the checklist. The female lead aced at living the double life for years still, things can't be kept hidden for long and eventually do come out. I feared this moment and so did the audience.

In my opinion, this Korean drama feels like a breath of fresh air. We've always seen how the female lead was suppressed and even after the death of her partner, she's forced to mourn him when life is so much more than that. The female lead lives a double life. In front of her in-laws, she's the perfect daughter-in-law but at night she's the savior of common people. The deeds she's done without thinking of the hardships she is facing in her own life are remarkable. The opening episode starts with a bang and that's when you know that it's going to be perfect for a binge-watch. The action, plot, acting, and sweet female lead takes us on this journey of ambition and well-being. The twelve-episode drama is a good watch and it's for those who want to watch something different in the historical genre.

Final Score – [7/10]
