Po and the gang are back with another season charged with some comedy elements and a lot of adventure. The second season is the sequel to the action-comedy Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 1 which was released in the year 2022 on July 14th. The second season of The Dragon Knight got released on January 12th, 2023. The show is made by Mitch Watson and Peter Hastings and is produced by DreamWorks Animation. The first season had a total of 11 episodes, whereas the second season has 12 episodes. The episodes in the second season have runs for about 23-24 minutes except for the last episode, which runs for about 45 minutes, making it a special episode.

In the last season of The Dragon Knight, a much calmer version of Po as the Dragon Warrior was shown. We also see him losing his title as the Dragon Warrior as he sets out on adventures. The sudden changes create problems in Po’s plans. Soon Po teams up with Luthera to defeat the enemies (Dumonts) and also earn back the title. He must also find the four Tianshiang weapons to protect the entire world.

The second season starts with them continuing the search for the weapons accompanied by Luthera the Wandering blade, Po’s father Mr. Ping, and Rukhmini. In the new season, the group continues to do their missions as well as unravel the secrets around them. This season even has a special episode named Epic Lunar Year which sort of is dedicated to celebrating Chinese culture. The adventure is nonstop even in the second season. Po and the gang go from celebrating the lunar new year to taking an adventure in India and Central America.

Kung Fu Panda is an animated entertainment that is quite famous among kids. But if we look at the last season, we might see a slight difference in whom the makers wanted to lure. The last season has tried to grab the attention of the parents of the kids, for whom originally this entertainment was made many years back. And this was one of the reasons why the last season, sort of loses its charm and mission, and also the interest of Kung Fu Panda fans. The second season too does not change this attitude. Even though the show is getting popular on Netflix under the children’s category, this attitude of the series cannot be missed or avoided since it dismisses the original charm.

The show stars Jack Black as Po, Rahnuma Panthaky as Rukhmini, Rita Ora as Luthera the Wandering Balde, James Hong as Mr. Ping, Po’s father, and many others too come together to give voice to the characters.

Overall, the second season has tried to maintain the same charm as the first but is never able to bring in the old charm of the Kung Fu Panda movies. Anyway, keeping this aside, the viewers still can watch The Dragon Knight series and enjoy it as time pass. It has short episodes making it very much easier for a binge watch. There are also rumors regarding a season 3, but nothing is officially confirmed therefore we will have to wait and see!

Final Score – [7/10]
