Come December, and we get to see many Christmas movies, and “My Secret Santa” is just one of them. The plot revolves around a single mother named Taylor who works at a bakery and was once a pop singer. However, life has taken a new and sad turn. Her rent is unpaid, with a rude landlady sitting on her head; her daughter wishes to join a snowboard academy and also wants a snowboard as a Christmas gift, and she has just lost her bakery job. But she won't let go of her daughter’s dream. In order to ensure that she joins the academy, she ends up taking the job of Santa in the ski resort. And of course, since this is a Christmas movie, a romantic angle has to be there. So here we have a man who falls for Taylor, but Taylor turns him down because she isn’t looking forward to dating, and she has too many responsibilities. The question is, will Taylor’s life take a good course?

First things first, I need not tell you what will happen next because by now you might have already guessed. Secondly, this isn’t something new or something we have already seen before. This was by far one of the most repeated plots ever. I mean, why can't makers come up with something new and different? Why does everything have to be the same and old? The classic love stories of Christmas are ancient now, and something better needs to be served to us during our holiday season. Sadly, here we don’t get it, not even an ounce of it.

This very reason makes the plot highly boring to watch. There is nothing good that is offered to us. It is like you need not watch further because you can guess the plot to that extent. Then why would you want to watch it? Yes, there is no reason to watch it.

Coming to the acting, my goodness, I have not seen so much overacting ever. People here seem to go overboard for even the slightest of roles. Especially the role of Taylor. She is a shop of expressions who sadly doesn’t know which one to give. Look at her, her overacting annoys right from the start of the movie. Even the supporting cast, too. I don’t know if this was something that had been planned already or not. But if this, then this was a very poor choice.

At this point, Netflix should honestly stop with these types of movies. The least they can do is give us something better to watch.  Such a plot ends up wasting time, and viewers do not feel the need to watch till the very end. The pacing is slow as well. At this point, I knew the pacing was going to be erratic. And I was on point. The only time the makers kept a high pace was when they showed Taylor’s downfall. That’s it. Other than that, there is nothing fast in this movie. So, dear viewers, I suggest you watch some old classics instead of this one.

Final Score- [3/10]
