NBC has revealed the first trailer for the new ‘Quantum Leap’ series, which shows the return of time travel adventure. The series which is dubbed as a soft reboot or a sequel to the original 1989 series, will premiere on Monday, September 19 at 10/9c on NBC and will be available to stream the next day on Peacock. A new episode will premiere every Monday.

The original series chronicled Dr. Sam Beckett's (Scott Bakula) adventures and journeys as he time-traveled to numerous ages and worlds after being forced to body-hop around the universe due to a botched experiment. Every episode is unique, with our main character assuming a new body and facing a fresh set of problems each week.

The new Quantum Leap will be based on a similar concept. This time, the spotlight is on a new character, Dr. Ben Song (played by Raymond Lee). Our primary character Ben investigates the secrets of the original experiment and the still-missing Dr. Sam Beckett 30 years after the iconic Dr. Sam Beckett went into the Quantum Leap. Caitlin Bassett, Nanrisa Lee, Ernie Hudson, and Mason Alexander Park will also appear in Quantum Leap.

Dr. Sam Beckett vanished about 30 years ago when he stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator. Now, a new team has been assembled, led by scientist Ben Song (Raymond Lee), to restart the research in the hopes of unraveling the mysteries surrounding the machine and the man who invented it. Everything changes, however, when Ben takes an unapproved leap into the past, leaving the crew to figure out why. Throughout his leaps, Ben is accompanied by Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears as a hologram that only Ben can see and hear. She's a seasoned Army veteran who approaches her job with calm precision. Herbert "Magic" Williams (Ernie Hudson) is in charge of the highly classified operation, and he has to answer his employers, who will be furious once they discover the breach of protocol. The rest of the crew at headquarters includes Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who manages the AI unit "Ziggy," and Jenn Chou (Nanrisa Lee), who oversees the project's digital security. As Ben jumps from life to life, righting wrongs, it becomes evident that he and the team are on an exciting trip. However, Addison, Magic, Ian, and Jenn understand that in order to solve the mystery of Ben's leap and bring him home, they must move quickly or risk losing him forever.

Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt have written and executive produced. Don Bellisario, Deborah Pratt, and Martin Gero also executive produce. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, has produced in association with I Have an Idea! Entertainment, Belisarius Productions, and Quinn's House Productions.
