The second season of ‘Halo’ officially began filming last Monday (August 15) in Budapest, Hungary, with the majority of the cast and crew. The remaining cast is set to join the production this week.

‘Halo’ Season 2 production will take more than ten months to wrap up in June 2023. We can also confirm that in addition to the present team of Spartans, there will be another female member (soldier) joining the Silver Team of Master Chief in Season 2.

Seeing the current production schedule and amount of post-production this series required, we can expect Season 2 to premiere sometime in later 2023 or the first quarter of 2024.

The leading cast of Halo - Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, Shabana Azmi as Admiral Margaret Parangosky, Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey, Olive Gray as Miranda Keyes, Kate Kennedy as Kai-125, Yerin Ha as Kwan Ha Boo, Jen Taylor as Cortana, and Charlie Murphy as Makee are returning for Season 2.

After the premiere on March 24, 2022, the ninth and final episode of Halo Season 1 was released on May 26, 2022. The first season of Halo currently holds an approval rating of 69% based on 69 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience gave mixed reactions with some calling it a different and humane version of the video games while some calling it completely different from the games which just exploit the name of the popular video game franchise.

In the first season finale, John commands Cortana to take control of his body so he can simultaneously save his team and recover the keystones without activating them, despite her warnings that doing so could permanently wipe away his memories. After John takes a fatal hit, Cortana assumes control of John, rescues Silver Team, and manages to escape with them and both of the keystones. As they depart, Kai asks John if it's really him under the helmet, but he merely gives her a sidelong glance.

The sex scene between the Master Chief/John and Makee in the eighth episode of the first season garnered mixed reactions from viewers and critics. The controversy focused on whether the scene was "contrived and forced," if the Master Chief committed a war crime by having intercourse with a prisoner of war who was unable to properly offer her consent, and whether the Master Chief's behavior was regarded unusual in comparison to the core canon.

David Wiener will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the second season of the sci-fi show. The co-showrunner of the first season, Steven Kane will return as a consultant on the show for Season 2. The series is also executive produced by Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television in partnership with 343 Industries. Otto Bathurst and Toby Leslie are also exec producing for One Big Picture, along with Scott Pennington for Chapter Eleven and Karen Richards. Steven Spielberg, Kiki Wolfkill, Frank O'Connor, and Bonnie Ross are also executive producers.

The series follows an epic struggle between humans and an alien threat known as the Covenant in the 26th century. ‘Halo’ was officially renewed for Season 2 in February 2022, before the first season premiere.
