‘Siksa Neraka’ Netflix Movie Review - Is This Horror Film Worth Watching?

 
Horror movies are always interesting to me. Well, even when I know that I am not meant to watch them, I still go for those movies. They easily scare me; in fact, I get so scared to even watch horror clips, so movies are always hard to watch, but I always find them interesting and very scary for me.

Siksa Neraka is a 2023 Indonesian-language horror movie on Netflix that depicts the story of four siblings and their horrific situation. The story focuses on four siblings named Saleh, Fajar, Tyas, and Azizah. Four of them have always been raised very strictly by their father, who is a respected man in the village. He has always given knowledge about hell and heaven to his children, and he is known to many who believe in faith.

But who knows that the man who believes in all things will have his children experience real hell and learn the difference between hell and heaven? One day, Saleh and his brothers pull a stunt by going the opposite way without the knowledge of their parents. But unfortunately, they got swept away by the strong and sudden currents of the river. This incident mysteriously made four of them vanish, and they found themselves in another realm, which is Hell.

The four of them get punished for the sins they committed but don't give much importance to them. They get tortured a lot in many ways, such as their body parts getting cut off again and again, and they get the literal taste of hell. The family tries to learn about the truth and find their children, but slowly they learn all the hidden truth behind everything.

I thought the movie would be very interesting, but it was slow. The visual effects and cinematography are so perfect, but the overall storyline didn't make much sense to me. I enjoyed the movie, and it was worth watching, but I was also losing interest in the middle as the movie was going very slowly.

It is good enough to watch it one time; the movie will not give you the vibe to watch it over and over again. It wasn't boring, but it was also not good enough to be on my favorite list. Overall, the movie made me realize the different worlds and morals of hell and how we should always be careful when committing sins.

I don't know how much you will like watching this horror and slasher genre movie. But if you are searching for a movie with religious activity and horror content, then this one is for you. The language can be a barrier, but you will enjoy the content of the movie; moreover, the visual effects will impress you a lot, because I was very impressed after seeing the cinematography.
