The Witcher Season 3 Vol. 2: Everything We Know So Far

The Witcher Season 3 has premiered on Netflix. This season, fans are treated to the continuation of the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, Ciri, and Yennever of Vengerberg. The film is adapted from the best-selling novel by Andrzej Sapkowski.

The Witcher is a series about Geralt of Rivia, part of a group of magically hired monster hunters known as 'witchers'. This season will be the last season for Henry Cavill as Geralt. Because in season 4, Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt.

The Witcher Season 3 was released in two parts, namely volumes 1 and 2. The Witcher Season 3 Volume 1 aired on Thursday, 29 June 2013 with five episodes. Meanwhile, The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 will air on Thursday, 27 July 2023 with 3 episodes.

The first teaser trailer for The Witcher season 3 focuses on Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri's separation. Then, the second trailer contains scenes of Geralt contemplating his own place in the power struggle that will occur on the continent.

Cast

1. Henry Cavill as Geralt

Geralt is a mercenary monster hunter also known as a witcher. One time he was in the Kingdom of Cintra. He saves a hedgehog and asks for the "Law of Surprise". unexpectedly, he got a child, Ciri. He is destined to become Ciri's protector. Henry is involved in a love story with Yennefer.

2. Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla of Cintra or Ciri

Ciri is the heir to the Cintra Kingdom which is located in the northern region of the continent, close to the Redania Kingdom. It has a mysterious power. In one scene, as she screams the ground splits open, and a monolith statue collapses.

3. Anya Chalotra as Yennever of Vengerberg

Yennefer appears in the second episode of the first season. She was born with a crooked spine. Tissaia, a witch, bought Yennefer from her parents and brought her to Aretuza, a school of magic.

Due to injustice due to her shortcomings, Yennefer is determined to be perfect and beautiful, even if she has to make sacrifices. She took the consequences of not being able to have children.

Yennefer then meets Geralt. She was involved in the battle at Soden Hill and Geralt thought he was dead.

Story

In the previous season, Geralt brought Ciri to the witcher Kaer Morhen's base. It was Geralt's childhood home and was considered the safest place for Ciri. This is where Ciri trained.

The leader of the Witchers, Vesemir, then finds out that Ciri has the blood of elders. He knew when he found a flower that could only grow from the blood of his elders. The flower is the main ingredient for making elixir, a potion to turn humans into Witchers. Because at that time there was a Witcher crisis because some of its members died in battle.

The news of Ciri having the blood of elders then spread widely and many were hunting for her. Starting from wizards, kings to elves led by Francesca Findabair (Mecia Simson).

New Monster?

As a mercenary monster hunter, Geralt has faced dozens of disgusting and bloodthirsty creatures. Across the two seasons of The Witcher, Netflix has featured monsters from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, CD Projekt Red's video games, and their designs.

While Ghouls, Bruxas, and young Leshen are formidable in battle, the newest creature in Season 3 will be Geralt's strongest opponent. What creature will Geralt have to face in The Witcher Season 3?

While running through a massive walled labyrinth, Ciri comes face to face with a monstrous creature with four legs. The image is slightly blurred to maintain the mystery. But, for video game fans, the creature is almost like a Fiend.

Although not named in the original novels, the Fiend makes a recurring appearance in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, being featured in much of the promotional art and some of the game's fights. The creature in the trailer looks to have the same physical appearance as the Fiend. Both have four legs and have large horns similar to those of a moose.

The introduction of Fiend in The Witcher marks the third time that the series has stepped away from the books by introducing creatures found in video games. The first was Kikimora in the first episode and the second was Leshen in season 2.

Classified as a Relic in the games, the Fiend is one of the oldest monsters on the Continent. They inhabit swamps, marshes, and forests because they like to be alone. Fiends are equipped with sharp teeth and razor-like claws, which they use to bite and slice their prey.
