TV Shows Reviews

If you watch this show, watch it for the dashing and handsome Jung Kyung-ho. Just joking. While that is a fair reason to watch this show, you should watch it for the gripping plot you are about to get. At the heart of the show is Kang Da-wit, a young judge in a district court. He is flamboyant but also knows his work well. He isn’t someone you can fool and get away with easily. In addition to all that, he is highly amicable and is someone who is liked by people who work with him. The first episode starts with a corruption and harassment case that he has to preside over. The media, victims, and the people have given up on hope and justice because of the delay in the case. Even at the time of going to the court, the defendants were under the impression that they would get some sort of delay for three weeks. And that is when Kang Da-wit comes into the picture. In his court, as he states, he is the king. And he sorts the wrongdoer by giving them a stringent punishment. This makes him the apple of the eye of the media, and mind you, he is very observant of his social media followers. Therefore, he maintains a good profile too. But behind all this is a man who remembers his teenage years and how he lost his mother. And while he is looking forward to greater career heights, a sudden case changes his plans. He is caught in a scandal which bleaks his chances for a promotion. However, he stumbles upon something else that requires deeper investigation. Therefore, he starts again in his career.

This show, with just the first episode out today, leaves an indelible mark on the viewers. It is funny and has bouts of seriousness in between, too. For example, Kang Da-wit’s past life with his mother is something that can catch our interest. We need to see and understand what happened to her. Then again, the case of a dead juvenile who also happened to be his elementary school classmate resurfaces. If he is dead, then who is it that Kang Da-wit saw? This for sure gives us a glimpse of what the next episodes are going to be in the future.

Acting-wise, Jung Kyung-ho does a great job, displaying a variety of emotions as and when needed. He is funny when required and also has great comic timing. Even in the courtroom, we can see his seriousness.

For some viewers, who are afraid that this is a legal drama, you may face jargon in understanding. Here is the surprise: the show is pretty simple and doesn’t use much of the legalities as of now. It is very easy to understand if you have caught a grasp of the plots ahead.  The pacing is great, so you won't get bored in such a thrilling drama. So all in all, this is worth a watch. Keep an eye on the upcoming episodes.
