The film is about a teenage girl, Amber Appleton, who along with her mother is trying to make two ends meet while living inside a bus after her father died. Things start to go downhill for her as she loses someone really important to her. On her way of life she never stops smiling and spreads positivity everywhere, her friends become her family.
Based on the Book “Sorta Like a Rockstar” by Matthew Quick, the movie is a breath of fresh air. It takes us to the journey of Amber Appleton who is optimistic no matter what her situation is.
The screenplay and the relationships in the movie are written with utmost care and love. You relate to them so well and feel for them.
The acting and direction in the film are also very good and subtle and one more reason why you will love this so much. Where movies like "Kissing Booth" and "Sierra Burgess is a Loser" grabs major eyeballs, this kind of movie just takes a backseat.
Such kind is very underrated and must gain more recognition, it teaches us so much about friendship, life, family, and love. Most of all it gives us hope.
Auli’ I Cravalho does a great job as Amber, she blends in with the problems of the character and outshines like a star.
You will watch this film when you are sad and demotivated, and when you finish watching it, you will feel that “I am in a much better position than others and I should make the best out of it!”.
