Amazon Studios' ‘Reacher’ series has officially wrapped up production in Toronto, Canada (July 31). Based on Lee Child's 'Jack Reacher' novels, the series started filming in April 2021 after it was officially ordered back in January 2020.
The 8-episode season 1 of the Amazon series has no premiere date yet. ‘Reacher’ will arrive exclusively on Amazon Prime Video for Prime subscribers all over the world. Season 1 of this new series adaptation is based on Lee Childs’ first Jack Reacher novel, “The Killing Floor.”
The series is set in Georgia and revolves around Jack Reacher, who is falsely arrested for murder by the sheriff of Margrave. As Reacher persuades Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin) to phone a number on a piece of paper found in a dead man's shoe, Finlay believes Reacher is innocent. Reacher learns that the murdered man is his brother Joe Reacher (Christopher Russell), who was investigating a counterfeiting ring run by the Kliner family with the backing of crooked cops and politicians. Reacher and Finlay go after Kliner, as well as corrupt cops and federal agents.
Alan Ritchson is playing the titular character of Jack Reacher. The cast of the series also includes Malcolm Goodwin as Chief Detective Oscar Finlay, Willa Fitzgerald as Roscoe Conklin, Marc Bendavid as Hubble, Willie C. Carpenter as Mosley, Harvey Guillén as Jasper, Kristin Kreuk as Charlie, Leslie Fray as Josephine Reacher, Matthew Marsden as Stan Reacher, Jim Chad as Diner Patron, Lara Jean Chorostecki as Molly Beth Gordon, Jorja Cadence as Emma Stevenson, and Chris Webster as KJ.
Amazon Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television Studios are producing the show. Nick Santora wrote and executive produced the first season. Santora is also the showrunner. Child, Don Granger, Christopher McQuarrie, and Scott Sullivan are also executive producers, with Skydance's David Ellison and Dana Goldberg. Carolyn Harris oversees the series for Skydance Television, which collaborates with Amazon Studios and Paramount TV Studios on production.
Paramount Pictures turned Childs' novels One Shot and Never Go Back into films. In both of the action thriller films produced in 2012 and 2016, Tom Cruise portrayed the main character of Jack Reacher.
