Netflix has revealed the trailer and premiere date for the upcoming anime series, 'exception.' The sci-fi space horror anime, 'exception' will release on October 13 on Netflix, worldwide.

Based on an original story by Hirotaka Adachi, with character designs by Yoshitaka Amano, ‘exception’ is an original sci-fi space horror anime ‘... where there is no escape’. The music is composed by world-renowned musician and Academy- and Grammy Award winner Ryuichi Sakamoto.

The series is set in the far future, where humanity has been driven from Earth and forced to relocate its population to another galaxy. Members of a scouting team are dispatched to search for a planet suitable for terraforming. The crew was created through a biological 3D printer, but due to a system error, one of the crew members, Lewis, emerged in a deformed state. As Lewis turns on his fellow crew members Nina, Mack, Patty, and Oscar, a countdown to the end of the mission begins in the terrifying darkness of the ship.

“I’ve always liked science fiction and when I read the script, it made me want to see it visualized so I decided to participate,” says music composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. “We live in a time where cloning and other DNA manipulation technology are sophisticated, but the question here is, "What is life?" ' or 'What exactly is humanity? 'This work confronts these types of questions head-on. I intended to make the main theme music a symphonic piece, like the ones that have become a sci-fi staple since Star Wars. I created the entire soundtrack darkly ambient and worked hard to have it feel like one piece of music rather than split by scene. Having said that, I did include some harsh sounds in the fighting sequences. I was able to create a soundtrack that I really like.”

In the series, Lewis is voiced by Nolan North/Chikahiro Kobayashi, Mack by Robbie Daymond/Takahiro Sakurai, Nina by Ali Hillis/Yuko Kaida, Oscar by Eugene Byrd/Takanori Hoshino, and Patty by Nadine Nicole/Atsumi Tanezaki in English and Japanese, respectively.

Hirotaka Adachi has written the original Story and Screenplay for the series which is directed by Yuzo Sato. Tatsunoko Production (Bakken Record) and Studio 5 are the producers.
