‘Avengers: Doomsday’ New Trailer: Doctor Doom States - Hell Answers to Me

Marvel has revealed a new trailer, calling it a special look for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ at D23 2026 this Friday night. The trailer is a dark, character-focused teaser centered on Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. It humanizes him through backstory while showcasing his overwhelming power and menace, with an ominous and elegiac tone, emphasising loss, brokenness, and existential stakes involving multiversal “stolen lives.”

The trailer opens with Doom seated on his throne in what appears to be Doomstadt (his Latverian castle), green energy glowing around the dais/steps. Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) provides somber narration over close-ups and atmospheric shots:

“Victor was always the smartest guy in every room.  
He used to be different.  
He used to be kind.  
He used to be caring.  
And then… everything he loved was taken from him.  
I knew he was lost, but I did not realize that he was broken.”

This confirms Doom originates from the Fantastic Four’s universe (Earth-828) and shares a complicated prior relationship with Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben. Visuals intercut with Sue (a tear visible on her cheek in some reports of related footage), Doom’s glowing green eyes, and him gazing at a tapestry in his castle that depicts a mother and child—representing the family he lost (wife and child). The tapestry matches promotional imagery previously released.

The montage expands to glimpses of other heroes and destruction: Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Panther/Shuri (Letitia Wright), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Cyclops (James Marsden), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and more; a devastated landscape (possibly a ruined New York or battlefield); and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) holding a baby (tying into earlier teasers about his post-Endgame life). These underscore the multiversal collision of heroes from three distinct universes (Earth-616 Avengers/New Avengers/Wakandans, Earth-828 Fantastic Four, and the Fox-era X-Men universe).

Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards confronts Doom amid the wreckage: “Victor… Did you do this?” / “Answer me, Victor! Did you do this?”

Doom replies in a distinctive Latverian-accented voice:  
“All of you have lived stolen lives.  
But now you must give them back.”

Thor confronts him next, declaring: “I swear, you will beg for hell long before I grant it.” Doom casually stops Stormbreaker (with fingers or one hand, echoing the earlier trailer’s power display), possibly flings it aside or uses magic to overpower Thor, and delivers the chilling closer while raising an army of Sentinels (or Doombot/Sentinel hybrids) from the ground with green magic:  
“Hell answers to me.  
For I am Doom.”

The Special Look ends on this declaration, with Doom’s commanding presence, suit details (iconic green hood, metal mask, armor), and the rising robotic army emphasizing his god-like threat level. It frames Doom not as a simple conqueror but as a tragic, broken figure driven by personal loss (likely tied to multiversal incursions that destroyed what he loved), now enforcing a harsh solution on heroes whose “stolen lives” he views as illegitimate.
