The next season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its battle royale component, Warzone along with Call of Duty: Mobile, has been delayed. The official Call of Duty Twitter account made the announcement on monday, writing that "now is not the time" ahead of the scheduled June 4 release.
"While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time," the statement reads. "We are moving the launches of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 to later dates."
"Right now it's time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you."
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4, and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 was supposed to release this thursday but amid the ongoing protests after killing of George Floyd by police, it has been delayed till further notice. We can expect Activision to announce the new release dates by next week.
This official statement for the delay, relates to ongoing protests against police violence in the US, following the May 25 killing of George Floyd by police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In a similar move, Sony announced it will delay a scheduled PlayStation 5 event until further notice, and Electronic Arts has delayed its Madden NFL 21 announcement. Also in an unusual move, Xbox quoted playstation and tweeted "We Stand Together"
