Amazon’s Fantasy series “Carnival Row” Season 2 has officially wrapped up filming today in Prague, Czech Republic. The second season resumed filming in June this year after the suspension of production last year. Production-prep to resume began in May 2021.
Last year in August, when many of us reported that the second season has wrapped filming, it has only completed five episodes and Orlando Bloom didn't complete his part in the sixth episode due to a personal emergency.
Last year, Amazon had plans to divide the second season into 2 parts with 6-episode each making a 12 episode season. Part 1 was supposed to premiere this year but due to an incomplete shoot, seems like Amazon decided to scrap that plan and went ahead with 8-episode season 2. Currently, there is no premiere date for “Carnival Row” Season 2, but it is likely to be delayed till August 2022. First look image here.
Orlando Bloom was once again the first to wrap up filming his part yesterday along with Cara Delevingne. Bloom also posted a long message sharing his filming experience. “Love my job. As actors we get to go on these remarkable journeys with our characters,” said Bloom on Instagram.
Bloom continues, “Fall in love, fight for our lives, fight for justice, sometimes save the day and other times fall flat on our face. It’s all a mirror for life and the myriad of emotions we feel in any one moment or day in the life of these characters… I’m always grateful for the chance to evolve and grow and learn from my characters and all the wonderful people as actors, get to interact with along the way. The crew who work tirelessly and all the cast and supporting cast who’ve stood out in all kinds of weather to make some very large film moments come to life. Its storytelling. It’s not rocket science, but it is lightning in a bottle when it works and heartbreaking when it doesn’t…and yet it never fails to be an opportunity to learn and grow. What a gift.”
"Carnival Row," starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, is set in a Victorian fantasy world populated by mythological immigrant creatures whose affluent homelands were invaded by man's empires. This rising immigrant community struggles to cohabit with humans in the city's slums, where it is illegal to live, love, or fly freely. Despite an increasingly prejudiced society, a human investigator named Rycroft Philostrate and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss reignites a deadly affair. Vignette holds a secret that jeopardizes Philo's standing during his most significant case yet: a spree of brutal killings that threatens the Row's peaceful tranquility. As Philo investigates, he reveals a monster no one could imagine.
The show also stars Simon McBurney, Tamzin Merchant, David Gyasi, Andrew Gower, Karla Crome, Arty Froushan, Sinead Phelps, Indira Varma, Jared Harris, and Jamie Harris, who is now series regular. Erik Oleson is the showrunner for the second season.
The Emmy-nominated series is a joint venture between Amazon Studios and Legendary Television.
