Peacemaker season 2 will see Chris Smith, aka Peacemaker, navigating an alternate reality where his life is seemingly better. This discovery, however, forces him to confront his past traumas and take control of his future. The season will also explore a romance between Peacemaker and Emilia Harcourt and see him dealing with a new threat from Rick Flag Sr., who seeks revenge for his son's death. Additionally, the season will connect to the broader DC Universe, with potential links to the "pocket universe" in the new Superman movie.

Following the first season, changes to Peacemaker were made to better suit this new age of the DC Universe, as it brings the Justice Gang into the TV world. It seamlessly fits into this new season of Peacemaker and shows what the future of DC looks like. Despite the new characters, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) and John Economos (Steve Agee) are still a big part of the series. Both of them have their own goals, and while it can feel like a lot of characters have different things going on, it all flows nicely together.

Focusing on the inner workings of ARGUS and how this constantly conflicts with Flagg Snr’s desire for revenge and retribution is one of the most compelling parts of Peacemaker. There are complexities to these characters that make it a joy to watch; even if they aren’t the typical good hero type characters, they offer the audience a lot of nuances that will leave the fans wanting more.

Unfortunately, Emilia Harcourt’s character is one of the weakest points of the series. While everything else runs smoothly, the constant will-they-won't-they between Emilia and Peacemaker feels completely out of place. Had the series reduced this romantic plot, it would have been an almost flawless series, but instead, this romantic subplot feels a little forced. While other characters have much more going on, such as alternate universes and friendships, as well as a desire to confront and change their ways, Emilia Harcourt’s character is lost along the way.

With both of the main storylines being from Peacemaker and Rick Flagg Snr’s point of view, it offers the viewers an interesting look into justice and what the cost of that will be. Had this been the main focus and not been overshadowed by Emilia Harcourt’s romantic plot, this season would have been flawless. Peacemaker season two is a great follow-up to both the first season and a slight look into the aftermath of the events from Superman. If this is the future of DC, it’s safe to say that the majority of fans will be excited for the next few projects!

Final Score- [8.5/10]
