A middle-class man in the name of modernity and advancement of technology has to face a lot of emotional and mental trauma to keep up with the fast-paced world. The man we're talking about here is Shereif, the male protagonist of the film. He has a beautiful wife and a daughter who are unaware of the difficulties the man has to face.
While they were in the supermarket one day, a man approached the family. He was selling lottery tickets which had a refrigerator and other things as the winning prize. Shereif knowing that this might very well be a scan didn't take a ticket while his daughter secretly took one. Call it luck or a wake-up call, they won the refrigerator. While the fridge was free, it also came with some additional costs, such as installation charges. Hesitant to pay them, Shereif finally gave a very small amount compared to the modern refrigerator's selling price.
The refrigerator turned out to be a nightmare as it was loaded with all the new features and kept on ordering things on its own. Tired and regretting the day he won the lottery, Shereif has to face other things in life as well which require cards and online payments. One day when the water supply in his home stopped and he had to defecate, he went to a nearby facility which required him to download an application. In this situation, there was no possibility that he could control the pressure and spare the time to download an application and get a card.
Things extended to this extent that even to spend a night with his wife, he had to download the iMarriage app. The man disclosing these card-related details is the same and at one time Shereif goes almost insane.
The actor playing the role of Shereif is doing an excellent comedy. It's funny how, even in basic situations, the man can preserve his point while simultaneously making the audience laugh. There isn't a dull moment in Charging Card, however, the title doesn't do justice to the plot, and it could have been better.
In all, this 100-minute film is worth your time and the comical timings and dialogues are the most memorable. See it to have a good laugh and it's a family film. Contemporary society believes and relies on technology, but what about those who have lived most of their lives without it? That is the major subject explored in the film, which is disguised under a cover of humor.
The writers have done a fabulous job to keep the viewers entertained and though I started watching it with zero expectations, it surpassed them. You can relate to the hardships he's facing and the amount of money one now has to spend to endure the hiking price of the digital world.
Final Score – [7.5/10]
