Netflix has revealed a new trailer and release date for the Gothic horror-mystery movie, ‘The Pale Blue Eye,’ which stars Christian Bale in the leading role. Directed by Scott Cooper, The Pale Blue Eye will release on January 6, 2023, on Netflix and on December 23, 2022, in select theaters in the US.

Based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Louis Bayard, the movie follows a veteran detective Augustus Landor played by Christian Bale, who investigates a series of murders at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York in 1830. Deterred by the cadets’ code of silence, Landor enlists one of their own to help unravel the case - Edgar Allan Poe portrayed by Harry Melling, a young cadet at the academy.

The cast of the film also includes Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Timothy Spall Hadley Robinson, Matt Heim, Joey Brooks, Brennan Keel Cook, Gideon Glick, Fred Hechinger, Steven Maier, Charlie Tahan, and Robert Duvall.

The screenplay of the film is written by Scott Cooper and is based on the novel of the same name by Louis Bayard. Christian Bale, John Lesher, and Tyler Thompson are the executive producers.

The filming of The Pale Blue Eye took place in various parts of Pennsylvania last year and finished earlier this year. Netflix bought the film's rights in March 2021 and produced it with Cross Creek Pictures.
