This movie begins with a big surprise. Joy, the mother of SC, is excitedly waiting for her daughter on Valentine's Day. However, she sees SC come hand in hand with her boyfriend. Now her boyfriend wastes no time in dropping the question of marriage. Joy is stunned. Is her darling daughter ready to walk down the aisle? And before she could process anything else, her daughter made another demand: she wanted her absent father to be present at the wedding. Joy is clearly not happy with the turns of the events, but agrees to finally fulfill her daughter's wish. This means that she has to reunite with her ex-husband for this occasion in Malta now. Upon meeting Ced, their old romance resurfaces, and so do their emotions and care for each other. But this reunion is not as easy as it looks. It is filled with awkward moments and some bitterness from the past. Will their daughter’s marriage bring these ex-lovers together? Or will life go back to how it was?
Now, clearly, this is a plot you have seen before multiple times. So it’s nothing new as such. Yes, what makes the film a bit different is the comedy. The actors have impeccable comic timing, which makes the plot somewhat bearable.
Apart from this, the plot misses out on giving us something unique. There is no freshness, which at this point we desperately wish to have. The actors, Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal, are impeccable in their scenes. Their chemistry from ex-lovers to newfound lovers again is what keeps the movie going and from failing miserably. Apart from this, their individual acting is also good as they deliver the right amount of emotions at the right time. They have great comic timing, which makes the plot very hilarious. These two manage to create magic on screen and save the script.
There were many areas where things could have been better. For example, the film doesn’t point out why the marriage failed in the first place, what the aftermath was, and what they can do to improve now. Maybe if these things were touched upon, the film could have been intriguing to watch. Without these core aspects, it just feels like any other plot trying to find a place in an ocean full of similar fish.
Coming to pacing, the film is too dependent on funny scenes, which overshadow the scenes that have emotions. Thus, the pacing feels odd in every aspect. It is quite uneven. There are places where it is spending a lot of time, and somewhere it is rushing. This can confuse the viewers and in return, make them lose interest. Overall, this is a one-time watch. Watch it only for the laughter.
Final Score- [5/10]
