I still didn’t understand what exactly the makers were trying to tell us in this plot. In an attempt to find out that, I ended up watching this trash, which didn’t make sense to me at all. So the plot revolves around an aspiring gymnast named Sunshine who wishes to participate in the Olympics. For that, she is preparing hard and fast. However, everything comes to an abrupt halt when she finds out that she is pregnant. Now she has to abort the child. But, here's the thing, doing so is not easy as it is considered illegal in the Philippines. Yet she borrows money from her father, the father of the child, and gets an illegal abortion done. In between, she interacts with a child who sticks with her throughout. Now, I didn’t really understand who that child was. But nonetheless, moving ahead, Sunshine manages the abortion. Meanwhile, the news spread, and the father of the child, who was her classmate and who is also the son of the Pastor, visited Sunshine in order to persuade her to keep the child. But till then, she had already aborted. You might think, Why is all this a fuss? That is because she is still a teenager. While all this is going on, Sunshine meets a 13-year-old girl named Mary, who is pregnant. She also wishes to abort, but doesn’t know how to do it. The question is: will Sunshine help her out?
The plot is so stupid. The makers chose such a sensitive topic. But midway, they lost track of what exactly was happening. As a result, it feels incomplete. This topic should have been dealt with a lot of care. Yet it wasn’t. They make it look like it is easy to get pregnant and even easier to abort the child. Like in a snap of a second, you can return to your normal life. But we all know that is not how it happens. And mind you, all the abortions are illegal. So my question to the makers is: what exactly were you trying to show? And before releasing the movie, did you even watch it yourself and understand what was going to happen or what you were going to present to the audience? The plot made no sense at all. What was that? The writer had no clarity in mind, and sadly, the execution shows that. Everything is so puzzling that it is hard to make sense of it all. Who was that little girl? What was her role? What happens to Mary? None of these questions is answered. At first, when I started watching, I felt that this was going to be a great movie since it involved mature topics. But what a mockery these people made by making a storyline out of it, which was this trash. There was zero sensitivity with the way these things were dealt with.
The pacing is fast, and for the first time, I have issues with that. And that is because, for the first time, that pacing did not make any sense at all. In fact, it was the reason behind the abrupt manner in which the plot was presented. Why did I see that? What did I get? Nothing.
Final Score- [2/10]
