After the hit Fear Street trilogy, there were already murmurs about a fourth film in the franchise, which were officially confirmed by Scott Stuber, the head of Netflix film, last November. Although we are still waiting for more details on the film, we can confirm that the film has begun pre-production this Monday in Toronto, Canada.

The fourth film which has been officially titled, ‘Fear Street: Prom Queen,’ is based on R.L Stine's 15th book in the original Fear Street series. The movie is likely to begin filming this Spring, and we will reveal the schedule once it is officially available.

The official synopsis of the Prom Queen says, A spring night...soft moonlight...five beautiful Prom Queen candidates...dancing couples at the Shadyside High prom -- these should be the ingredients for romance. But stir in one brutal murder -- then another, and another -- and the recipe quickly turns to horror. Lizzie McVay realizes that someone is killing the five Prom Queen contenders one by one, and she may be next on the list! Can she stop the murderer before the dance is over—for good?

The character named Lizzie (Julia Rehwald) was present in Fear Street Part Three, which was set in 1666, but I don't think this Lizzie has anything to do with the other one.

Last we heard, Chloe Okuno was set to helm Fear Street 4, which is yet to be officially announced by Netflix. We will keep you updated once we get any new information.

Netflix released the the first three films a week apart in 2021 calling it the Fear Street Trilogy. Fear Street Part One: 1994 was released on July 2, 2021, Fear Street Part Two: 1978 on July 9, 2021, and Fear Street Part Three: 1666 on July 16, 2021. The films became critically acclaimed and were also loved by the Netflix audience and horror fans.

The trilogy was directed by Leigh Janiak, who expressed her interest in the fourth film soon after the success of the first three films. The first three films produced by Chernin Entertainment were set to be distributed by 20th Century Studios, but the pandemic forced a change of plans and later, they were acquired by Netflix and were released as Netflix original films on the streamer. Fear Street 4 will be again produced for exclusive distribution on Netflix.

The Fear Street is an American horror film series, with varying subgenres of horror, particularly the slasher and supernatural subgenres.
