‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ Leaked Trailer Confirms the Return of Tai Lung

Seems like the season of leaks is here as not one but two partially edited trailers of the upcoming Kung Fu Panda 4 have been leaked online. The trailer has a lot of portions in Sketches while the remaining portion is colored, but the animation is still in the early stages. The whole video has watermarks all over it, but the audio is completely clear. You can watch the trailer in the later part of this article.

The trailer not only confirms that Tai Lung, the villain and the wannabe dragon warrior from the first film is returning, but also that the villains from the second and third films, Shen and Kai respectively, are returning. But how? I think the trailer explains it clearly and doesn't leave any doubt.

‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ will have a new villain named, The Chameleon. As you know, a Chameleon changes its color according to the situation, but in this case, this supernatural Chameleon can change its face and body making it impossible for anyone to keep track of her. The Chameleon is summoning enemies from Po's past like Tai Lung, Shen, or Kai to spread chaos all over China. In this film, Po has a new mission to find out who and where the Chameleon is and save the valley before she brings chaos to his loved ones. Below are the trailers:

As per the official synopsis, Po will leave the Valley of Peace for the city, where he will encounter The Chameleon, a villain who can conjure foes from Po's past. In addition to dealing with The Chameleon, Po must find a successor since he understands he cannot continue forever to be the Dragon Warrior.

Later, Jack Black who voices Po revealed more details about the film during the Cinemacon this year. As per Jack, "Po is ready to become the Valley of Peace's next spiritual leader, but first, he must choose a successor to become the new Dragon Warrior. He appears to have found one in Zhen, a fox with many potential qualities but who doesn't quite like the idea of Po training him. The two ultimately got along... yet forming a genuine master/student pair was only the start. The Chameleon, a villain with the "totally scary and totally unfair" capacity to resurrect antagonists from past Kung Fu Panda films like Tai Lung. Desperate to find a way to defeat The Chameleon, Po, and Zhen must go into the big city for the first time."

Unfortunately, neither the trailer nor the official synopsis and statements give any hints that any of the fan-favorite Furious Five members are returning. Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper, and Crane have always been the soul of Kung Fu Panda films and their absence might hurt the audience's interest.

As of now, the confirmed cast of the fourth installment includes Jack Black as Po, Dustin Hoffman as Shifu, James Hong as Mr. Ping, and Bryan Cranston as Li Shan. The expected cast of the film may include Lord Shen voiced by Gary Oldman, Tai Lung voiced by Ian McShane, and Kai voiced by J. K. Simmons.

‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ is directed by Mike Mitchell and co-directed by Stephanie Stine. It is scheduled to release in theaters on March 8, 2024.
