Gerard Butler’s action-thriller movie, ‘The Plane’ has officially begun filming today in Puerto Rico. The production started today with the primary cast of the film including Gerard Butler, Mike Colter, and Kelly Gale.
The Plane is an action-thriller film about commercial pilot Brodie Torrance (Butler) who, after successfully landing his storm-damaged plane in enemy territory, finds himself threatened by militant pirates, who aim to hijack the plane and its passengers. As the world's authorities and media search for the missing plane, Brodie must rise to the occasion and keep his passengers safe until aid arrives.
Yesterday, Daniella Pineda also joined the movie, she is playing Bonnie, who is a capable and professional chief flight attendant. She joins Butler, Mike Colter who plays Louis Gaspare, and Kelly Gale in the movie.
Based on Charles Cumming's book, The Plane will be directed by Jean-François Richet and written by Charles Cumming, JP Davis (Violence of Action), and Matt Cook. The film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian of Di Bonaventura Pictures, Marc Butan of MadRiver Pictures, and Butler and Alan Siegel under their G-BASE label.
Olive Hill Media and Paprika Financing are co-financing the project, which is also co-produced by Pimienta Films. Michael Cho, Tim Lee, Alastair Burlingame, Gary Raskin, and Vicki Dee Rock are the executive producers. Luillo Ruiz is a co-producer.
Lionsgate will distribute the film in North America, Latin America, the United Kingdom, and India. Lionsgate's project managers are Eda Kowan and Jason Constantine. The studio's deal was overseen by John Biondo and Christopher Davis.
