The Boys showrunnner Eric Kripke may have given some spoilers for season 2. In a recent interview with Collider, Kripke revealed a lot of exciting stuff about the season 2 that fans can look forward to.

Eric revealed that Giancarlo Esposito will have an expanded role as Vought CEO Stan Edgar in season 2 and he will represent the true monster of the show. In his own words: “We really expand his role. With Elisabeth Shue gone we really needed a character to represent the true monster of the show which is Voigt. He does that with his icy, chilling demeanor. I’ve loved him ever since I worked with him on Revolution. He’s one of my favorite actors and I was thrilled and honored that he was open to coming back and playing again.

In season 1, Elisabeth Shue’s character Madelyn Stillwell died in the finale, so there is a space created for a lead villain in the show. So it makes perfect sense that Giancarlo Esposito has been given that job to fill that space and we have seen him in these kind of characters, who can forgot his iconic role in The Breaking Bad - cool & calm but still dangerous.

Eric also talked about Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) who is missing since season 1 finale and how he rejoins the group. He revealed that they have used some footage from the season 1 to create a short film called “Butcher” which reveals what happened during his missing couple of weeks. The plan is to release the short film after season two starts streaming.

In the same interview Eric talked about a possible role for Jeffrey Dean Morgan in season 3, you can read our post about Jeffrey Dean Morgan here.

Amazon has given a bigger budget for the season 2 so you can expect a lot more ambitious visual effects this time.

Eric said “They goosed up our budget a bit. That time buys you the ability and it doesn’t just mean huge action scenes. It does mean some of those. We have some huge sequences. There are larger sea mammals. There is some bigger stuff for sure. But there is also a lot more intense stuff and scenes that were really difficult for the actors emotionally and require a bit more time. It’s not just the visuals that are epic; I think the emotions are a little more epic this season and that just takes some TLC with the actors.”

Aya Cash's Stormfront is already the talk of the town since the time the character was announced and we can hope her to keep the hype in the show as well.

The Boys season 2 will air on september 4. It will have 8 Episodes, The first 3 will air on september 4th and then remaining episodes will air weekly for next 5 weeks with finale on Oct 9th.
