Netflix has released the first trailer for the live-action family film ‘The Sleepover’ (watch above) aimed at kids and teens. The film is produced by LD Entertainment and directed by Pitch Perfect 3 filmmaker Trish Sie. ‘The Sleepover’ is available to watch at Netflix on August 21.


The film is written by Sarah Rothschild, follows two siblings who discover their seemingly normal mom is a former thief in witness protection. Mom is forced to pull one last job, and the kids' team up to rescue her over the course of an action-packed night. Marino will play Ron Finch, the father of the kids and the husband who learns many unexpected new facts about his wife.


The official synopsis by Netflix says: "Get ready for a sleepover like no other! During a fun weekend sleepover with their best friends, two siblings discover that their seemingly normal stay-at-home mom Margot (Malin Akerman) is actually a former high-end thief in the witness protection program. When both their mom and dad (Ken Marino) are kidnapped and forced to pull one last job with an ex-flame of Margot’s (Joe Manganiello), the siblings must team up to rescue their parents over the course of one action-packed night that they’ll never forget."


The Sleepover stars, Sadie Stanley (Kim Possible), Maxwell Simkins (The Book of Henry, Bizaardvark), Ken Marino, Cree Cicchino (Mr. Iglesias, Game Shakers), Lucas Jaye (Merry Happy Whatever, Driveways), Karla Souza (Jacob’s Ladder, How to Get Away with Murder), Enuka Okuma (Battle of the Sexes), Erik Griffin (Murder Mystery, I’m Dying Up Here) with Joe Manganiello (True Blood, Rampage) and Malin Akerman (Billions, Rampage).


Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon are producing with executive producers Michael Glassman, Nicole Stojkovich, Scott Holroyd, Alison Semenza King.

 

Trish Sie is repped by UTA. Rothschild rewrote the female-driven comedy film at Universal, 24-7, with Kerry Washington and Eva Longoria starring. She’s repped by Verve and Myman Greenspan Fineman Fox Rosenberg & Light.
