Netflix has revealed the first trailer for the Korean-language series, “Hellbound.” Based on the Webtoon “The Hellbound” and directed by Yeon Sang-ho, the series will release on November 19 on Netflix, worldwide.

Hellbound tells the story about supernatural beings that emerge out of nowhere to make a decree and condemn people to hell. These supernatural occurrences wreak havoc and allow the religious cult The New Truth to grow in power. However, a few people grow suspicious of its operations and begin looking into its role in mysterious happenings.

Unbelievable displays of Hell take place in the heart of Seoul, directly in front of crowds. Mysterious beings sentence people to hell, and supernatural beings emerge precisely at the specified moment to execute the condemned in a terrible burning. The dominating voice of Jung Jinsu, the head of an up-and-coming religious group called The New Truth, rises above the absolute pandemonium caused by these unexplainable supernatural events. He asserts that only sinners are marked for judgment and that these occurrences are the result of God's intention to make humanity righteous. The Arrowhead, a group of his blind followers, takes the punishment of those who go against the divine decree into their own hands. The world devolves into a living hell.

Min Hyejin, a lawyer, challenges Chairman Jung, arguing that the hell protests are simply supernatural phenomena. She joins forces with the few who are attempting to safeguard the hellbound and return the Earth to the realm of humanity rather than gods. They must fight with the instability caused by The New Truth.

Raising expectations with its buzz, Hellbound is based on the 9.77-rated popular webtoon The Hellbound, with readers commending it as “the most shocking in webtoon history.” Top-tier actors Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min, Won Jin-a, Yang Ik-june, Kim Do-yoon, Kim Sin-rock, Ryu Kyung-soo, Lee Re, and more make up the exceptional cast.

Yoo Ah-in portrays Jeong Jin-su, the charismatic and mysterious head of the New Truth Church. Park Jeong-min plays Bae Yeong-jae, a producer at a broadcasting company that investigates the New Truth Church. Kim Hyun-joo is playing Min Hye-jin, a smart and self-assured lawyer. Won Jin-ah is playing Hong Ji-yeong who is the wife of Bae Yeong-jae, and a member of the New Truth Church. Yang Ik-june is portraying Jin Gyeong-hun, a police detective who investigates the unsettling appearance of the death angels.

Hellbound is directed by Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan, Peninsula) and written collaboratively by Yeon and Choi Gyu-seok, author of the popular webtoon Songgot. Lezhin Studio and Climax Studio have produced the series.
