Netflix has revealed the first trailer (watch above) for the Korean-language series, ‘The Silent Sea.’ Set in the year 2075, the Sci-fi mystery thriller series will release on Netflix on December 24, worldwide.
This Netflix series is set in the year 2075 when natural resource depletion has ravaged Earth and follows the story of an elite crew dispatched on a special mission to an abandoned research outpost on the moon.
Previously, the poster for The Silent Sea, which was revealed for its Christmas Eve launch to the moon, depicted Song Jian (Bae Doona), an astrobiologist who had just landed on the moon. She is a part of an elite squad sent to the moon to save Earth from destruction due to natural resource depletion. This lone person on the moon, which is still an immensely strange location and undiscovered territory for humanity, piques our interest in this narrative of discovery and sets the stage for the inquiry, "What occurred at an abandoned Korean research base?" While searching for answers to save Earth, team members find entangled in unusual situations and unexpected occurrences that occur in deep space. Their futures are dangling by a thread, so spectators will be on the edge of their seats.
The Silent Sea is a television series based on filmmaker Choi Hang-yong's short film of the same name, which won critical praise at the 13th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival in 2014. This narrative, which Choi has been working on for over a decade, captivated actor Jung Woo-sung. "I was blown away by the story's spectacular ideas." "I wanted to be a part of developing a distinctly Korean sci-fi series," Jung explained. From the start, his involvement in the series' development drew a lot of attention.
Writer Park Eun-kyo, who garnered Best Screenplay prizes at the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards for Mother and the Blue Dragon Awards for Crush And Blush, has also joined the creative process of this engaging narrative of investigation.
The series' cast — which includes Bae Doona, Gong Yoo, Lee Joon, Kim Sun-young, Lee Mu-saeng, Lee Sung-wook, and others — plays elite team members who risk their lives to take part in a unique operation. The sci-fi thriller The Silent Sea, with its synergy and extreme tension, will undoubtedly be the grand finish to the year 2021 for Korean films and series.
