‘LOTR: The Rings of Power’ First Teaser Trailer Reveals A Breathtaking World Before the Rings

Amazon has revealed the first official teaser trailer for its most highly anticipated new series of 2022, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The 60-second commercial provided Super Bowl audiences with their first audio-visual glimpses of J.R.R. Tolkien's famous Second Age, introducing a brand-new legend from Amazon Studios and showrunners J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay, which will premiere on September 2. The teaser trailer, which features a selection of characters from the ensemble cast, such as Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs, as well as Arda-spanning scenery, takes viewers on an action-packed adventure-filled with wonder and thrill in true cinematic glory.

The release of the teaser trailer during Super Bowl LVI on February 13 represents the next milestone in what will probably be one of the most significant worldwide marketing efforts of 2022. Early this year, Prime Video sculpted the show's title treatment in molten metal, feeding fans' insatiable desire for the series and organically reaching an estimated 1 billion impressions worldwide in the first 24 hours. This campaign milestone was immediately followed by the release of 23 elaborately detailed posters showcasing only the hands of the series' stars, igniting a massive online debate about the characters' identities and backstories.

The eagerly awaited The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere exclusively on Prime Video around the world in multiple languages on Friday, September 2, with new episodes available weekly.

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books and will transport viewers to a time when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the thinnest of threads, and one of Tolkien's greatest villains threatened to cover the entire world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the story follows an ensemble cast of familiar and new characters as they face the long-feared return of evil to Middle-earth. These kingdoms and characters will leave legacies that will endure long after they are gone, from the deepest depths of the Misty Mountains to the gorgeous woodlands of the elf capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Nmenor, to the uttermost extremities of the map.

The series is led by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado, and producers Ron Ames and Christopher Newman.
