Marvel Studios ‘Echo’ Officially Wraps Up Filming at Disney+

The series, which will explore the origin of the unforgiving deaf gang leader Maya Lopez, will premiere in Summer 2023 on Disney+

The upcoming MCU and Disney+ Series ECHO has officially wrapped up filming in Atlanta, Georgia, this Friday (August 26). The lead star of the series Alaqua Cox confirmed the production wrap via her Instagram stories.


The Hawkeye spinoff series ECHO began production on April 22 this year with Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio also reprising their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively, for the show. During San Diego Comic-Con Marvel confirmed that ECHO will release in early Summer 2023.


The series is an origin story of Echo that revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.

 

Alaqua Cox leads the series as Maya Lopez aka Echo. The series also stars Devery Jacobs, Chaske Spencer, Graham Green, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, and Zahn McClarnon. Alaqua Cox as Echo, the unforgiving deaf gang leader who was determined to make Ronin pay for his vengeful deeds in Disney+ Series Hawkeye. The fate of Maya was hanging in balance when Hawkeye Season One ended. In the finale of Hawkeye, when Kingpin tries to escape, Maya traps him in the alley and then seemingly shot him. The gunshot was only heard and didn't happen on the screen, which makes it hard to confirm whether Kingpin is dead or still alive. or if someone else shot Echo and Kingpin got away.


Episodes of the series are directed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie. Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Richie Palmer, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Marion Dayre, Brad Winderbaum, and Jason Gavin. Co-executive producers are Amy Rardin, Christina King (Seminole), Sydney Freeland, and Jennifer Booth.


In the comics, the origin of Echo begins with Maya shooting Kingpin, making him blind. The series will also see the return of the on-screen rivalry between Kingpin and Daredevil aka Matt Murdock.
