‘Never Have I Ever’ Cast to Host A Virtual Fundraiser Event for India COVID Crisis

Netflix hit dramedy series ‘Never Have I Ever’ is hosting a live virtual fundraiser event on the Netflix US YouTube channel to raise funds for the ongoing COVID crisis in India. The event is a part of a collaboration with the GiveIndia donation platform to support their COVID relief efforts.

The event will give us an exclusive sneak-peek of season 2 and possibly season 2 July premiere date as well, along with the table read and a live Q&A session with some very special guests. So, I will also request you to join in good numbers on Saturday 5/8 at 2:30 pm PT/5:30 pm ET on the Netflix US YouTube channel.

Series leading star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and show creator Mindy Kaling made the announcement via their Instagram accounts, asking fans to join and help India in tackling this pandemic.

“Right now, India is going through a devastating second wave of the pandemic,” said Maitreyi. “Yes, we are still talking about this because we HAVE to talk about this. Many of us benefit from Indian culture from the food we eat to the beauty “hacks” we think someone else came up with. Being a part of a show that puts Indian-American culture in the spotlight, we the cast & creators of @neverhaveiever will be hosting a virtual fundraiser to raise funds for GiveIndia in support of their Covid relief efforts on the ground in India. Please consider still sharing and donating, No one is safe from the pandemic until we are ALL safe.”

“India is currently going through the most devastating second wave of the pandemic right now, averaging over 300,000 new cases a day! Along with a shortage of hospital beds, ventilators, and medical oxygen,” said series star Lee Rodriguez asking the fans to join the cast and crew on Saturday.

The virtual fundraiser event will include the cast and crew of the series with Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Lee Rodriguez, Mindy Kaling, Ramona Young, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Poorna Jagannathan, and Richa Moorjani expected to join. As per the announcement we are expected to see some special guests joining and we might be able to get a look at a few of the new season 2 cast as well.

Earlier, Maitreyi revealed that season 2 will premiere this July along with the first-look images from the upcoming season.

"Never Have I Ever" is a coming of age comedy about the life of a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl Devi played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. The character is an overachieving high school sophomore who has a short fuse that gets her into difficult situations. In addition to the ultra-relatable high school drama about fitting in, searching for love, and trying to figure out who you are, Devi is also dealing with the sudden death of her father.
