‘Never Have I Ever’ Season 2 Hits #1 Spot on Netflix in More than 50 Countries

Within 3 days of its arrival, the second season of teenage dramedy ‘Never Have I Ever’ has already hit the no.1 spot in around 50 countries, worldwide on Netflix. The much anticipated season 2 arrived on July 15 on the streamer and has become one of the most talked-about shows on the internet with top entertainment websites praising it for perfect South Asian & LGBTQ representation.

‘Never Have I Ever’ Season 2 is currently at #1 spot in many counties including Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, India, Italy, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, and United Kingdom. The show was also #1 in the United States till yesterday, but Virgin River has reclaimed its top spot pushing NHIE to the second. It is still the early days for NHIE2, so it will be safe to assume that the show will come back to #1 within few days.

Hitting the top 10 within the first 3 days of arrival is quite normal for a new show coming after big promotions. However, the same doesn't apply to all the existing shows. The first season of Never Have I Ever may not have been as big a hit as Bridgerton on its arrival, but it has certainly become popular with time and the current popularity of the second season confirms that the show has become one of the best investments Netflix has ever made.

The series has currently a 95% score from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 81% from the audience. The overall consensus indicates that even with average writing, the show is worth to binge watch due to the dazzling performance of its cast. With this kind of overwhelming response from the viewers, it will be much easier for Netflix producers to renew ‘Never Have I Ever’ for the third season.

Among the movies, Gunpowder Milkshake is currently topping the charts in many countries including the U.S., and the new arrival, Fear Street is giving it tough competition. Netflix also added all the movies of the Twilight series in the country and so far they all are in the top 10.

Never Have I Ever‘s Season 2 follows Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) caught up in a dilemma after his crush Paxton and long-time classmate and current friend Ben kiss her. Season 2 is all about her struggle to manage two boyfriends and choose the best one, as she also deals with her mother, who is completely ready to move to India, leaving the US.
