One of the biggest hits of Netflix in 2020, ‘Never Have I Ever’ has now officially started filming for season 2. With all the COVID-19 safety precautions in place, the cast of the series is back on set to get the show going.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, the leading star of the show, uploaded an image on Instagram from her vanity van, that confirmed that the show has started shooting. Also, Mindy Kaling updated her Instagram status with an image and text "hahaha Guess who's on set tomorrow @neverhaveiever."
The Mindy Kaling comedy series “Never Have I Ever” was one of the few shows which managed to avoid the firing spree of Netflix due to the pandemic. Netflix renewed the series for season two back in July. If everything regarding season 2 production goes according to the plan, we might see season 2 returning on Netflix by late spring 2021.
Season 2 will see Maitreyi Ramakrishnan reprise her lead role as high school student Devi Vishwakumar alongside the returning cast including Poorna Jagannathan(who plays Devi’s mother Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar), Richa Moorjani (who plays her cousin Kamala), Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, and Ramona Young.
Lang Fisher serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner with Kaling exec producing alongside 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein and David Miner. It is produced by Universal Television in association with 3 Arts Entertainment, Original Langster, and Kaling International.
"Never Have I Ever" is coming of age comedy about the life of a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl Devi played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. The character is an overachieving high school sophomore who has a short fuse that gets her into difficult situations. In addition to the ultra-relatable high school drama about fitting in, searching for love, and trying to figure out who you are, Devi is also dealing with the sudden death of her father.
