‘Outer Range’ Season 2 - Release Date and First Look Revealed for Amazon’s Sci-Fi Series

Amazon has revealed the first look images and the premiere date for the second season of its hit sci-fi series. ‘Outer Range’ Season 2 will be released on Thursday, May 16, 2024, on Prime Video with all its seven episodes.

Amazon also confirmed that series star and executive producer Josh Brolin will make his directorial debut in the Prime Video original with Second Season’s penultimate episode. Building on Season One's carefully established groundwork that put the major mystery in motion, comes an energizing sophomore season full of payoffs, grounded surprises, and unfettered character journeys.

In Season 2, the mystery surrounding the unexplained hole on the Abbott family ranch's west pasture develops as Royal and his wife Cecelia (Lili Taylor) try to hold their family together following their granddaughter's untimely disappearance. The Abbotts' situation has never been more precarious, with threats on numerous fronts. The second season of Outer Range takes its protagonists farther into the abyss, with profound and unexpected situations that have the potential to upset the very foundations of time. Outer Range follows Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), a rancher struggling for his property and family when he discovers an inexplicable occurrence at the border of Wyoming's wildness in the shape of a dark hole.

Alongside Oscar-nominee Josh Brolin, Outer Range also features an ensemble cast, including Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie, and Will Patton. Outer Range comes from executive producers Charles Murray, Brad Pitt, Heather Rae, Dede Gardner, Ernest McNealey, Jeremy Kleiner, Josh Brolin, Tony Krantz, Jon Paré, Christian James, Megan West, Daniel Abeles, Kimberly Guerrero, and Monette Moio. Charles Murray took over as showrunner from Brian Watkins for Season 2, however, Brian remained as an executive producer.

In Season 1, Royal Abbott, a Wyoming rancher, fighting for his land and family, discovers a mysterious black void in the pasture, following the arrival of a woman named, Autumn, a drifter with a connection to Abbott's ranch. While the Abbott family copes with the disappearance of their daughter-in-law Rebecca, they are driven further to the cusp when a rival family, the Tillersons, tries to take over their land. The first season of the neo-Western and sci-fi series ended with the reveal of Autumn's true identity, which made the series from a sci-fi drama to a mind-bending time-traveling thriller.
