Netflix has revealed the first teaser trailer for their upcoming Korean-language sci-fi series, ‘Black Knight,’ which is set in a dystopian world. ‘Black Knight’ will release on May 12, 2023, on Netflix, worldwide.

Black Knight depicts a polluted world in 2071 in which humans must breathe through respirator masks. Only one percent of the human race has survived, and severe societal inequalities have developed in the deserted lands of the Korean Peninsula. Delivery drivers play an important role in this system, and for many refugees, becoming a delivery driver is their only option for survival. Black Knight tells the story of a legendary delivery man "5-8" with exceptional combat skills and a refugee "Sawol" who wants to follow in his footsteps against the backdrop of turmoil.

Director Cho Ui-seok has directed, written, and produced the story into an action-packed series. Through his past works – Master, Cold Eyes, and The World of Silence – Cho demonstrated a knack for storytelling, action sequencing, and stylish cinematography.

Kim woo-bin plays the legendary delivery driver "5-8." Sawol, a refugee youngster who admires "5-8" and aspires to be a delivery driver, is played by rising sensation Kang you-seok. Seolah, a military officer of the Defense Intelligence Command, is played by E Som. Seolah saves Sawol's life and treats him as if he were a member of her own family. The cast also includes Jiseung Cho as Hyun su, Song Seung-heon as Ryoo Seok, Kim Eui-sung, Lee Soon-won, and Lee Joo-seung among others.

The series is produced by PROJECT318 in association with Netflix.

Black Knight, based on the popular webtoon of the same name, won the E-IP Award at the Asian Film Market, an event that connects producers of web drama, web novels, webtoons, and stories to entertainment industry specialists who may redesign them into new formats. The story received attention for its inventive premise, which transforms a common profession, in this case, delivery drivers, into a distinct group responsible for the human race's survival.
