Netflix has revealed the first teaser trailer and premiere date for the Swedish-language series, ‘The Playlist.’ The limited series about Swedish startup Spotify ‘The Playlist’ will release on October 13 on Netflix, worldwide.
At the height of piracy, established heavyweights were up against the unstable music industry's direction. The series revolves around Daniel Ek, a young Swedish internet entrepreneur, and his key collaborators, who changed an entire sector by providing free and legal streaming music to people all over the world. It's a story about how strong convictions, unwavering determination, access, and great ideas can help little players disrupt the existing quo by reshaping how we all listen to music.
The limited series consists of six forty-five-minute episodes. ‘The Playlist’ is inspired by the book 'Spotify Untold’ [SE: Spotify Inifrån] by authors Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud - both business reporters at Swedish Dagens Industri and it is produced by Yellow Bird UK, a Banijay Group company.
The lead cast members of the series are Edvin Endre as Daniel Ek, Ulf Stenberg as Per Sundin, Gizem Erdogan as Petra Hansson, Joel Lützow as Andreas Ehn, Christian Hillborg as Martin Lorentzon, and Janice Kamya Kavander as Bobbie T. Valter Skarsgård, Amy Deasismont, Hanna Ardéhn, Sofia Karemyr, Ella Rappich, Agnes Kittelsen, Sam Hazeldine, and Patrick Baladi are starring in supporting roles.
Per-Olav Sørensen (Quicksand, Home for Christmas, and Nobel) has directed the series from a screenplay written by Christian Spurrier. Berna Levin from Yellow Bird UK is an executive producer with Eiffel Mattsson as producer and Luke Franklin as development producer.
