Thriller lovers, this is your best watch before the year ends. Without wasting time, here is what follows in this amazing classic: a woman named Ahn Yoon‑su is like any other woman. She teaches art and has a stable income. However, this “normal life” changes when her husband is murdered and she ends up becoming a prime suspect in the case. Her life changes in that very moment, and she goes from being an art teacher to being a wanted suspect in her husband’s murder. But you might think that she will succumb under pressure. That is where we all go wrong. She remains absolutely calm and composed, more like she already knows the truth. Not once will you see her losing her calm. This raises even more questions about her than the fact that she is a suspect in her husband’s murder.
That is the point when Mo Eun enters. Mo Eun is a feared woman in the prison. She is cold on both the inside and outside, a no-nonsense woman. Mo Eun comes up with a very absurd plan. She offers to Yoon‑su that she will admit to the murder. However, in return, Ahn Yoon‑su must actually commit another murder. This is what the entire plot is. If you wish to know more about the what and why, this series is a must-watch to gain clarity.
There are many questions that are asked, such as what guilt is and how we determine what is right and wrong. These are deeper, provoking questions that cross our minds when we watch the show. The characters of Ahn Yoon‑su and Mo Eun have been developed so well. We see different layers of women. They are on different quests and different journeys in life, yet deeply interconnected with the one murder. The way the entire plot unfolds in the twelve episodes is what makes the show worth watching. None if it is rushed and doesn’t feel incomplete.
One of the main aspects why this show should be watched is because of the acting by the leads. The characters need someone who could carry these women with ease and mystery. Thankfully, we got some amazing leading ladies. For example, Jeon Do‑yeon, who plays Ahn Yoon‑su, gives us a woman who is trying to get a grasp of the situation unfolding around her, yet maintains her cool. Then we have (my personal favorite) Kim Go‑eun as Mo Eun. I have been watching her since her Goblin Drama, and she has come such a long way since then. She proves that she can play any character at ease, no matter what. The role of Mo Eun was also filled with lots of mystery, because why would anyone want someone to commit another murder? The way these women have delivered their dialogues and their body language, everything speaks for itself. I was very excited to watch for Kim Gi-eun, but even Jeon Do‑yeon surprised me.
Overall, too, the pacing is good and everything else that contributes to what could actually make the viewers watch it. Hence, I would suggest this is a great watch.
Final Score- [8/10]
