Abraham Ozler starts with the story of a police officer, who lost his family due to an ex-convict. Taking advantage of the fact that the officer was on vacation, the prisoner conned the officer and kidnapped his family. Now, the whereabouts of his family couldn’t be known as the man responsible was under the influence of drugs and doesn’t remember anything.
Abraham after the whole incident hasn’t been able to sleep for a single day. His insomnia has now further extended into hallucinations. In some scenes, he is hallucinating his daughter running towards him or seeing a cat sitting on a table. There comes a case under Abraham’s jurisdiction where people are being murdered and the culprit has a piece of good surgical knowledge. Police take this lead and start to investigate.
The things revealed in the investigation initially don’t seem to go anywhere, and then suddenly everything starts to make sense. Dots seem to match one by one and we get steps closer to find out who the culprit was. The story is something that you can not imagine and how the events turn and give shape to the murders makes you think about a lot of decisions in your life.
In my opinion, the film has been beautifully crafted and they've done wonders with the time distribution. Crime thrillers can be segregated into two parts i.e., the first is where the murders take place and police investigate, and the second is where the culprit is revealed. Ideally, the second part is very short only ten to twenty minutes long.
When the suspects were caught, there was still an hour or so left, and I was left wondering what was there to unveil. An hour for the suspect to confess to his crimes seemed too much, but when he starts speaking, you end up feeling bad for him.
Not only is his story filled with jealousy but the negative atmosphere in every medical college is revealed. It's not only about medical colleges, every workplace also has some competition, and it depends upon the people whether they take it positively or negatively. The things our culprit had lost that too when he wasn't at fault make this film feel realistic. However, people go to the extremes of killing or torturing one another in rare scenarios, and this one looks realistic.
You are in for a ride if you're choosing to watch Abraham Ozler this week. The plot is amazing and it deserves five out of five stars for it. The same goes for the acting department as everyone has given their best. There might be some errors with dubbing as some dialogues didn't match what was written in the subtitles.
The movie doesn't seem to end here as the story of Abraham’s family is still undisclosed. It is clear that they weren’t killed but their whereabouts are still to be revealed. I’ll be on the lookout for its sequel if it ever gets made.
Final Score – [7.5/10]
