Amor Animal is a typical violent sort of love story that you may have seen or read before. The plot follows the life of Kaia and Nico. Kaia is an ambitious trap singer who belongs to a working-class background. Music is her way to change her life and the circumstances she lives in. For Nico, on the other hand, things aren’t as different when compared to Kaia. He belongs to a rich family and has mostly had it easy. Yet there is a feeling of emptiness that he feels in his life. Nico and Kaia meet at a party and instantly hit it off. They end up having an obsessive bond with each other. As they carry on with their relationship, things get complicated. They experience passion, insecurity, and the thrill of rebellion. The very difference that brought them close becomes the very reason why they start to resent each other. For Kaia, focusing on music becomes difficult, while for Nico, he continues to get obsessively involved and tangled in Kaia’s life no matter what. Soon enough, their mental health also begins to suffer. What began as love and completeness soon turns into a more dangerous turn of events.
Now, dear reader, tell me honestly, what good did you see in this plot? Didn’t you feel that somewhere down the line, you had already read this before? Because truth be told, this is the type of plot that we all have seen every now and then in movies such as “A Star is Born”. Bollywood has countless movies on such themes. So, did we get something new? No, not at all. All we got was a plot that was recreated with new characters. What originality did the makers give us by showing a girl from a humble background ending up with a boy of a rich background, and both wasting their lives on each other? And that is what was the most frustrating part of all this.
The acting is over the top. Every cast here has done overacting, which just adds to our annoyance in watching. The toxic love story could have been presented in a better way; sadly, it wasn’t. The makers thought that creating heightened drama would make everything better. But so much of the drama was just a waste. It adds up to nothing to the plot. At one point, so much of the toxicity even got me frustrated. Like, not one thing was good with this couple. They soon reached a place where they could neither stay nor continue with each other. So what is the point of all this?
I was hugely disappointed with the pacing as well. The plot moves at such a slow pace. It goes on and on and on, and at one point, it feels as if there is no end to all this useless drama. What were the story writers and the makers even thinking? I hope they didn’t think much along the lines of “how to waste the time of the viewers”. So dear readers, watch something else and better than a plot like this. None of this is good enough.
Final Score- [3/10]
