Jason Momoa’s ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ has officially started filming today. The news comes from director James Wan himself who posted an icy photo on his Instagram account.

This will be the third Warner Bros. DC movie in a row which is currently in Production with Black Adam and Shazam: fury of the Gods already filming.

‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ is currently set to arrive in theaters on December 16, 2022, which will be 4 years since the arrival of the first film in 2018. Nothing much about the plot of the sequel is known but Wan has teased that the sequel will feature a more serious story (Aquaman 2018 was criticized for the plot) as well as some horror elements. It’s still unclear if other characters leaving aside Mera and Aquaman from the first film would also be appearing in this movie like Nicole Kidman’s Atlanta, and Willem Dafoe’s Vulko.

Aquaman 2 will be directed by Conjuring Universe creator James Wan with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick writing the script. The sequel is produced by Wan Peter Safran.

Based on DC character, the first solo Aquaman movie arrived on December 21, 2018. It was the highest-grossing DCEU film, the highest-grossing film based on a DC Comics character, the fifth-highest-grossing picture of 2018, and the 20th highest-grossing film of all time, with $1.148 billion globally.
