MCU fans are long waiting for the MCU Phase 4 to arrive and once cinemas open after the pandemic, one of the most anticipated film of the year MCU’s ‘Black Widow’ will be ready to take the superhero saga into an exciting post-Avengers: Endgame world. This will not only be the first solo film for Scarlett Johansson but it will be her last as well.

Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Black Widow’ which is MCU Phase 4 movie will look into the Natasha’s past before the events of the Avengers: Infinity War, But interestingly thats not the whole point of the movie, in fact this movie is set to be the origin for the new Black Widow in the MCU. Yelena Belova played by Florence Pugh will be taking the Baton from Natasha Romanoff to become the new Black Widow of MCU.

In an recent interview with Empire Magazine, film's director Cate Shortland told “[Kevin Feige] realised that the audience would expect an origin story so, of course, we went in the opposite direction, And we didn’t know how great Florence Pugh would be. We knew she would be great, but we didn’t know how great. Scarlett is so gracious, like, ‘Oh, I’m handing her the baton.’ So it’s going to propel another female storyline.

In Endgame, the fans were upset that Natasha did not have a funeral. Whereas Scarlett, when I spoke to her about it, said Natasha wouldn’t have wanted a funeral,” explains Shortland. “She’s too private, and anyway, people don’t really know who she is. So what we did in this film was allow the ending to be the grief the individuals felt, rather than a big public outpouring. I think that’s a fitting ending for her.

It may seem to fans that its not justice to the Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow but it will make perfect sense of Natasha’s tragic sacrifice on Vormir and to be fair if she comes back alive it won't be much of a sacrifice as seen in the Endgame.

Florence Pugh is a very young actress and now she has got a big task ahead of her to be the MCU’s Black Widow. It will be interesting to see if her character Yelena Belova is able to impress the audience with her skills and whether she is ready to replace Natasha Romanoff and become the new Black Widow.

The Full interview of Cate Shortland on Black Widow will be available in July 8th edition of Empire Magazine.

‘Black Widow’ is a film about Natasha Romanoff in her quests between the films Civil War and Infinity War. The film is set to open cinemas on 6 November 2020, hoping things will get better.
