Daisy Ridley's upcoming movie, “The Marsh King’s Daughter” has officially wrapped up filming today (5th Aug.) in Ontario, Canada. The psychological thriller started production back in June this year with Neil Burger as director.
Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith have written the screenplay of the film based on the novel of the same name by Karen Dionne.
The Marsh King's Daughter' follows Helena, a woman living a seemingly typical life with her husband and little daughter, but harboring a dark secret: her father is the infamous 'Marsh King,' the guy who held Helena and her mother captive in the woods for years. Helena is forced to confront her issues when her father unexpectedly escapes from prison. Helena must find the courage to confront her past and the man she once idolized, knowing that he would go after her and her family.
The film stars Daisy Ridley as Helena Pelletier, Ben Mendelsohn as Jacob Holbrook, Brooklynn Prince as Young Helena, Garrett Hedlund as Stephen Pelletier, and Caren Pistorius as Helena's mother. The cast also includes Gil Birmingham and Joseph Daly.
Mark L. Smith is producing alongside Teddy Schwarzman and Keith Redmon. Michael Heimler, Charles Miller, and Cliff Roberts are the executive producers. Black Bear Pictures, Anonymous Content, and STX Films are the production companies behind this film.
STXfilms is a distributor in the United States, the United Kingdom, India, and Ireland. Elevation Pictures is handling distribution in Canada. There is currently no release date for the film.
