“Dash & Lily” has been canceled just after its debut season by Netflix. Shawn Levy, CEO of 21 Laps Entertainment confirmed the news in his interview with Collider. Dash & Lily premiered last year in November and had a good run on the streamer.

While discussing the upcoming shows his company is producing, Levy states that a streaming service is dependent on the number of viewers the show attracts. Even if a show is of high quality, such as Dash and Lily, which won a slew of Daytime Emmys, if not enough people watch it, it is cruel that it cannot move forwards.

Levy also confirmed that currently, he is focussing on new shows and there is no plan of reviving the canceled Netflix series, "I Am Not Okay With This," which was axed due to the COVID pandemic last year. But, he also hoped that it may come back in any other form or format but not just now.

‘Dash & Lily’ is one of the shows, which was greenlit by Netflix internally for a second season, but was never announced. Production was supposed to begin in the first quarter of this year, but due to unknown reasons, Netflix decided not to go ahead with it. Now, Levy is confirming, the show didn't attract as many viewers as the streamer expected.

‘Dash & Lily’ was also loved by the critics and currently has an approval rating of 100% on rotten tomatoes. The audience approval score is 68%. The series also has a rating of 7.5 on IMDB from 13K votes, which is more than average compared to a lot of similar shows.

Netflix never reveals data for its shows (except those who have a large no. of viewers), but according to a report I saw last year, it was seen by around 25-30 million subscribers (currently don't have any link to the report). These no.s were from the last year, so, we can assume that it should have gone higher in the upcoming months. There is another series, “Julie and the Phantoms,” which is hanging by thread as Netflix still has to announce its future to the audience. Netflix recently canceled the action-fantasy series "Cursed" after holding onto it for more than a year.

Joe Tracz wrote the screenplay, executive produced, and was the showrunner on “Dash & Lily”. Levy and Josh Barry executive produced for 21 Laps and Jonas for Image 32 Cohn and Levithan co-executive produce.
