HBO Max has revealed the first trailer for the limited dystopian sci-fi series DMZ, which shows a destroyed New York city in ruins. Based on the DC graphic novel of the same name. The four-part limited series DMZ will release on March 17 on HBO Max.

DMZ leaps from the pages of the DC renowned comic novel into the visual world of a frightening and distorted Manhattan as one mother navigates a demilitarized zone in a desperate search for her missing son.

Rosario Dawson as Alma Ortega and Benjamin Bratt as Parco Delgado lead the cast of the SERIES WHICH is set amid a second American civil war based on the comic series published by DC written by Brian Wood and illustrated by Riccardo Burchielli. Roberto Patino has written all the episodes and is the showrunner of the series. He also wrote the pilot episode, which was directed by Ava DuVernay. In addition to Dawson and Bratt, the “DMZ” series also stars Hoon Lee, Freddy Miyares, and Jordan Preston Carter.

Rutina Wesley, Nora Dunn, Rey Gallegos, Jade Wu, Mamie Gummer, Agam Darshi, Juani Feliz, and Henry G. Sanders are the guest stars in the series.

America is immersed in a violent civil war in the near future, leaving Manhattan as a demilitarized zone (DMZ), wrecked and cut off from the rest of the globe. The horrific journey of fearless and fierce medic Alma Ortega, who sets out on a brutal trip to recover the son she lost in the evacuation of New York City at the start of the battle, leaps off the pages of the iconic comic. Parco Delgado, the popular — and deadly — head of one of the DMZ's most powerful gangs, is stoking the flames of that battle. He wants to rule this new planet and will go to any length to achieve that goal. Alma must cope with the gangs, militias, demagogues, and warlords that dominate this lawless no man's land in this adrenalized and broad thriller that tackles a severe political and cultural division in American society. As a result, she becomes an unlikely source of what everyone else has lost...hope.

"DMZ" is produced by ARRAY Filmworks in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television. Patino and DuVernay have overall contracts with Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG).
