“Fate: The Winx Saga” season 2 has officially started filming this week (July 19) in Ireland. The second season began production by adding few new cast members to the Netflix series.

Brian Young (The Vampire Diaries, Kyle XY) will return as showrunner and executive producer with Judy Counihan and Kris Thykier of Archery Pictures (Riviera, The State). Straffi also executive produces.

The news of the beginning of production came from the official social media accounts of Netflix. Brandon Grace as Grey, Éanna Hardwicke as Sebastian, and Paulina Chávez as Flora are the three new faces who are joining the existing cast of the fantasy series in the second season.

Abigail Cowen will reprise her role as the Fairy of the Dragon Flame, along with Hannah van der Westhuysen as the light-bending Solaria Guardian Fairy, Precious Mustapha as the Fairy of Waves, Eliot Salt as an earth fairy, and Elisha Applebaum as a mind fairy.

Netflix also released a behind-the-scenes video (watch below) of the cast at the beginning of the Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 production script read-through.

Fate: The Winx Saga is a live-action remake of Iginio Straffi's Italian animation Winx Club. The show follows the coming-of-age journey of five unlikely friends as they attend Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld in which they must learn to harness their magical skills while navigating love, rivalry, and the creatures who threaten their very existence.

Iginio Straffi, the creator and CEO of Rainbow Group, created and produced Winx Club in Italy in 2004. It has since become one of the most successful animated series in the world, as well as one of the first Italian shows to be sold in the United States.

The first season cast includes Abigail Cowen, Danny Griffin, Elisha Applebaum, Freddie Thorp, Precious Mustapha, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Eliot Salt, Sadie Soverall, and Eve Best.
